BLADDER CANCER BLOG UPDATE 04/01/2018
Yeah, yeah. I know. The weekly update is a day late. Sorry but on Saturday I felt pretty much like a turd in a punch bowl. The Bactrim antibiotics and I were not good together. Heart rate all over the place, blood pressure was low. I was totally out of balance from head to toe. So suffice to say it was a bad yet finally sunny Saturday in Tennessee. The saving grace was the 10 Commandments in HD. To me that movie does not get old (unlike me) so without further a due Happy Easter, he has risen. Now on to the update.
It rained a lot last week. It is supposed to rain a lot again this week. Well here we are another week later in the treatment process. This cancer treatment is a time consuming monster to be sure. No matter how you look at it. It is with you and in your thoughts every minute of every day and that plus the travel and the treatment wears you down.
Yesterday being Good Friday meant a day off from treatment. So I have 3 chemo’s under my belt with 6 more to go. As for radiation treatment I have 9 down and 29 or so to go.
I have so far only had one issue related to the treatments. It seems that the radiation has managed to piss off my body and ended up giving me s Urinary Tract Infection. So that's added the need for the antibiotic into the overall mix of pills and meds. The radiologist said that I will most likely end up with at least one more before the end of the treatments, something to look forward to in this journey. We ARE going to try a different antibiotic though.
Sleep is pretty bad with having to get up every 30 to 60 minutes all night long to pee. But considering how much of the bladder they took initial biopsy / surgery, I guess that's to be expected. The radiologist also put me on Flomax to relax the bladder so it can lessen the urges and let me sleep. He seems more concerned about that than anything else.
Well, that's all for me this week. I will turn this over to Donna now in case she wants to add anything. So I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend and April Fool’s day. Do you believe in signs. I threw down my gloves at the doctors office and this is who they landed.
Ciao for now! GREG
From Donna: We want to thank everyone that donated to our little Facebook fundraiser. We raised enough money to get us through April. We may have to run one for May. We will wait and see how the next couple of weeks go.
